Margaret Furtado earned her Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Florida International University in Miami, FL where she also completed her training to become a Registered Dietitian. She also earned a B.S. degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Rhode Island.

Ms. Furtado has several years of experience as a dietitian/nutritionist, including four years as a Nutrition Support dietitian (CNSD), two years as a Chief Clinical Dietitian, and more than six years as a renal dietitian. In addition, she has taught weight management classes for several years in various hospitals, and individually. Ms. Furtado is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, and has lived in Brazil which allows her to tailor nutritional programs for individuals with different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
