Opinion
Since becoming a part of the weight
loss surgery community, particularly
at Tufts-New England Medical Center I
have been searching for a way that I
could give back to the community that
has so caringly given itself to me when
I needed it most. When the idea of the
newsletter was announced, I felt that
this was a great medium for me to start
returning the generosity. I have been
in the food industry for over 10 years
not including a lifetime of doing research
and comprehensive taste testing of almost
every edible morsel on the planet. It
was my love of eating and passion for
food that drove me into the food business,
but also ultimately what drove me to
Tufts-New England Medical Center.
Since having surgery, my relationship
with food has gone through several stages
from pure hatred (when it made me sick
after surgery), to what it is now...a passion
and appreciation that I struggle to keep
in balance. My love of cooking has returned,
but I have made the personal decision
to use this passion to come up with WLS
friendly recipes for the various stages
particularly for stage 5 and maintenance
rather than the foods that contributed
to my obesity.
This newsletter, as you have and will
be told repeatedly, is supposed to be
YOUR newsletter. If there is anything
you would like to know how to make in
a healthier manner or you have ingredients
that you need new ideas for, please email
me at [email protected] and
I will email you back some suggestions
and possibly print the recipes in the
next newsletter. I may be able to help
you plan menus that will work with your
personal program and schedule, using
the guidelines set forth by your nutritionists.
There are countless possibilities for
this section of the newsletter and it
is all up to you! If there is something
that you would like to see or learn about
we are here for you.
