Fall 2004 - Patient Newsletter

Dedication

This newsletter is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Darrell Vogel. Dr. Vogel was the OCC Behavioral Health Director until he unexpectedly passed away in June 2002. His dedication, sincerity, and energy are still missed by patients and his OCC colleagues. Below are comments from patients and providers.

"Dr. Vogel was one of the most compassionate people I have ever known. I was fortunate to be in one of his small support post-op groups for two years. He was a great listener, always kept us on track and helped keep us focused and honest about our eating habits and emotions. Most importantly, he was genuine. He truly cared about each one of us as an individual, and was willing to help us out at any time of day. As his health deteriorated, he always had a smile on his face. It pained us to see him struggle as he walked into our group meeting. He never complained. He wanted no sympathy."

"He wanted to be there to help us and was happy to be able to do it. He was a truly admirable and unique individual, one that is dearly missed and never to be forgotten."
